For once water and fire are not at odds:
Only the conduct of humans and gods
External conflict in eternal peace

You have become your love, clear evermore;
A bubbling spring, ever still, your tears pour
Wet wishes to wed:  may pain never cease

Darkness exists to make the light shine bright;
Devils exist to give gods divine right
Love exists to make hate come to life

For humble logic does not follow facts
More than sticks and stones—your words were attacks
Letters of love give birth to naught but strife

You both were at peace before you knew.
But was life worth living before epiphany?
For her, knowledge was love.
For him, there was desire for neither.

An ode to Byblis, a charactor from a relatively minor myth in Greek Mythology. She was a woman who realized that she had fallen in love with her brother. She sent him a letter confessing her feelings and citing instances where the gods themselves had loved their siblings--but he ran from her. She persued, but lost him. Unable to find him, she eventually cried so much that her very form turned into a spring, eternally mourning her love.
